of Hindi Film Songs)
Beginning
from the advent of talkie films in India i.e. 1931, decade-wise 5
volumes of Hindi Film Geet Kosh have since been published in book
(paper) form. In addition to the year of release, names of artists,
director and production company of every film, opening line of every song
with respective singer, lyricist, music director and gramophone disc number
have been given therein. Microgroove Gramophone disc/CD/MC numbers
have also been included wherever available.
First of all, Volume - III [1951-60], containing details of 1,163 Hindi
films censored during the decade, was published in January 1980.
2nd - Revised and Enlarged - edition of Volume-III [1951-60]
has also been released on 5th April 1997 by Maestro Kalyanji in Bombay.
Volume - II [1941-50] was released by Maestro Naushad Ali in Bombay
on 25th February 1984.
Volume-IV [1961-70] was released by Maestro Anil Biswas on his 73rd birthday
i.e. 7th of July 1986 in New Delhi.
Volume-I [1931-40] alongwith Hindi Talkie Film Index [1931-87] was released
in Bombay on 8th October 1988 in the presence of Maestro Madhulal Damodar
Master who started composing music for Hindi films right from the advent
of talkie films i.e.1931 !
Volume-V [1971- 80], containing details 8,000 songs of 1,327 films, was
released by Maestro Sudhir Phadke in Bombay on 31st March 1991.
Pending publication of Volume-VI [1981-85], Volume-VII [1986-90], etc.
in the series, another compendium HINDI FILMOGRAPHY
[1981-2010] has also been published in English
carrying brief details [viz. name of the producer, director, lyricist,
music director, artists, banner, year and censor details] of 5,725 Hindi
feature film censored between 1981 and 2010. It is proposed to update
this book every year.
The language of these volumes is Hindi-English mix with title indices in
English & Hindi both. Hindi Talkie Film Index and
its Appendix have been published in English. Barring Volume-III, since
all the stock of other volumes has since been sold out, xerox editions
(properly bound in book form) are being supplied to music lovers on demand.
A
complete bilingual (Hindi-English) reference compendium titled 'JAB DIL HI TOOT
GAYA' of Immortal Singer K.L. Saigal has also been published with active support
of Harish Raghuwanshi [Co-compiler] which carries full text with respective
credits of his 185 songs and informative articles, photographs, etc., etc. in
472 glazed white pages [9"x11.5"].
