Parul Ghosh

Sister of famous music director Anil Biswas and wife of well-known flutist Pannalal Ghosh, Parul Ghosh belonged to well known family of musicians. She is often credited as the first playback singer of Hindi films singing for Dhoop Chaon as early as 1935 for music director R.C. Boral.

Most of her popular songs were composed by her brother Anil Biswas including Papiha re (Kismet, 1943), Suhani bailiya beeti jayey (Milan, 1946) and Mein unki ban jaoun re (Hamari Baat, 1943).

Her musical prowess is evident from the fact that Lata Mangeshkar paid tribute to her in her Shraddanjali series by singing Papiha re – Ummer Siddique
